Most landing pages and small websites fail not because the design is bad but because the brief was wrong. The Runway Page process starts with a 45-minute scoping session where we agree on exactly one goal for the page — the specific action we want visitors to take — and work backwards from there. Navigation that distracts from that action is removed. Content that does not support it is cut. What remains is a page with a clear purpose.

For pages driving paid traffic, we target sub-two-second load times. Every second added to a page load costs conversion percentage points, and for paid traffic campaigns it also costs quality score, which increases cost-per-click. Performance is not a nice-to-have at this scale.

For pages that exist to establish a professional presence — a new business, a consultant, a creative — the brief is different but the discipline is the same: clarity of message before visual design.
